Event Description:
Working together, business leaders can drive transformational change in a community. The second session of the Shared Values Conversations series focuses on the power of acting collectively with other leaders to make region wide progress, the second pillar of the Brookings’ action framework

This session will feature the Corporate Coalition of Chicago, an emerging model that aligns companies who share a vision to significantly reduce the severe inequities in the Chicago region. The Coalition focuses on initiatives where, working together, a greater impact is possible than when organizations work alone.

Speakers include Julia Stasch, Senior Advisor and the immediate past president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Eileen Mitchell, President of AT&T Illinois and AT&T Great Lakes States, Denean Pillar-Jackson, Founding Director of Chicago Resiliency Network, and Eric Patton, Senior Advisor. The conversation will highlight the Coalition’s overall mission and initiatives focused on collective corporate action. We’ll discuss the Coalition’s Chicago Resiliency Network, which brings healing-centered, trauma-informed practices to the workplace. In addition, we’ll discuss the Coalition’s EPIC Fund to bring flexible, risk-tolerant, and patient equity to community development projects to unlock other capital and advance community priorities. And finally, the Coalition’s Corporate Connector initiative that brings business partnerships and technical supports to community led development projects.

Join the conversation and learn how to work in concert with other executives, and in partnership with other community organizations, to exert greater influence on systemic solutions that meet the needs of community, employees and employers in achieving a stronger economy and society.
